CARRY ON DOCTOR!

One of the most in demand Speakers on the after-dinner circuit is poised to step in to the spotlight in support of Bolton Cancer Voices’ Christmas concert ‘Jingle Bell Sing-A-Long’. Dr Kevin Jones, a Consultant Chest Physician at the Royal Bolton Hospital has been recruited to present the event, which takes place on Saturday, 7th December at the Victoria Hall, Bolton. With a prescription to keep the night running smoothly Dr Jones has kindly donated his services and will no doubt draw on the rib-tickling humour for which he’s renowned to rise to the challenge of the role.
Dr Jones said:
Bolton Cancer Voices is unique in being the only known Choir for cancer patients and cancer survivors in the north-west of England. They accept anyone whose life has been personally touched by cancer currently or in the past. The Choir has proved such a hit with its members that organizers have taken the unprecedented step of inviting people who are cancer patients or cancer survivors from across the region to join in the fun and take part in ‘Jingle Bell Sing-A-Long’; an invitation also being extended to any professional whose role involves the treatment, care or support of cancer patients either in a Hospital or community setting.
Whether people have never sung outside of the shower before or maybe let their singing lapse during their illness or treatment Bolton Cancer Voices is keen to share their love of music with others; you don’t need to be able to read music, there are no auditions to worry about and no fees charged.
Karen Elliott, Chair of the Choir said:
‘Firstly can I say how wonderful it is to have Dr Jones on board; he’s a terribly funny man and also a terribly busy one; everyone’s absolutely delighted that he’s agreed to take part in our event and we really appreciate his generosity in donating his time and talent to help make the evening a really special one for all concerned.
I hope that anyone who meets our criteria will be inspired to come and participate in ‘Jingle Bell Sing-A-Long’. People will never know how enjoyable, uplifting and therapeutic singing can be if they don’t come along and give it a try; we need lots more singers so please get in touch.
The programme we’ve put together for the concert is packed with all the wonderful music which puts in an appearance in our lives at this special time of year and in keeping with the title there’s plenty of opportunities for the audience to sing along too; personally I love Christmas it’s my favourite time so I simply can’t wait!’
